Soneva is built on the belief that a business must exist for a greater purpose than shareholder returns. The Soneva Foundation supports the development of environmental projects that have a positive environmental, social and economic impact.
Wherever possible, the Foundation uses impact investing principles, seeking to recover outlays through carbon finance, which in turn will be fed back into projects to help extend the reach and benefits to more families.
Frequently asked questions
A Stove Credit is also known as a carbon credit, the emission reduction equivalent of one tonne of carbon dioxide.
Stove carbon credits are produced under a methodology certified by the Gold Standard Foundation whereby the reduction in wood consumption by the efficient cooking stoves helps to preserve carbon dioxide stored in the unique vegetation and biodiversity of forests.
The sale of the carbon credits to predominantly wealthier developed country participants provides the funding required to scale these projects while reducing further deforestation, airborne health-risks and carbon dioxide emissions.
